Pioneer’s 16 gage Universal Frames are tested in accordance with ANSI A250.4 (Extended Life Cycle) exceeding 3,000,000 cycles for swing and twist tests.
Pioneer’s Universal Frames are formed on press brakes creating superior bending angles and stress-free field fit up. They are available in a wide range of jamb depths and can accommodate wall thicknesses up to 17-1/2” with appropriate anchors.
Pioneer’s Universal Frames are primarily designed to be installed prior to the erection of the finished partition, although retro-fit anchoring is an option for some existing openings. Universal Frames are manufactured for door thicknesses ranging from 1-3/8 to 2-1/2” thick.
Pioneer’s Universal frames are available knocked down with interlocking frame joints for field assembly, face welded or continuously welded for additional strength and a uniform appearance.
Pioneer’s Universal frames are available in 12, 14, 16 and 18 gages in cold-rolled steel or galvannealed (A60) material.
Pioneer’s Universal Frames come standard as Equal Rabbet with Single Returns. Single Rabbet, Cased Open, Unequal Rabbet and Double Returns are all available.
Anchors for Universal Frames are available either loose or welded in and include but are not limited to, Wood Studs, Steel Studs, Wire Masonry and Existing (Punch and Dimple) Openings.
Pioneer’s Universal Frames can be fire rated up to 3 hours consistent with procedures for proper anchoring, trim and return dimensions as well as reinforcement and preparation for approved fire rated hardware.
Universal frames are prime painted by Pioneers exclusive painting process, consisting of a three-part pre-treatment process, where frames are cleaned and phosphatized, rinsed and sealed. Frames are then dried, electrostatically painted and oven cured for a durable and lasting primer finish in full compliance with ANSI A250.10.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS:
Pioneer’s UNI-SEAL frame is manufactured with an integral groove allowing for the introduction of a compressible seal designed to provide a superior barrier against air and smoke infiltration, water penetration and sound intrusion. Pioneer’s UNI-SEAL gasketing is supplied loose for installation after finish painting. Gasketing complies with UL1784 and smoke requirements.
The transfer of condensation, heat or cold is dramatically reduced with Pioneer’s thermal break hollow metal frames, lowering energy costs and improving the comfortability of the built environment.
Pioneer’s Universal Double Egress frames are prepared for two single acting doors with or without a center mullion, where each leaf swings in the direction opposite each other. Double Egress Openings are designed to accommodate a means of egress in two distinct directions; primarily for facilities like schools or medical care institutions where flow of traffic is of critical importance. Welded corners are required where fire rated.
Lead lining of Pioneer’s Universal frames (and doors) help contain and further prevent the transmission of radiation. Most commonly specified for X-Ray protection in hospitals, clinics, imaging centers and other healthcare environments; they can also be used for radiation shielding in security or defense applications.
Terminated (Hospital) Stop Frame
Primarily in hospitals, or where sanitary conditions are necessary, Pioneer’s Universal Frames with terminated stops are available for ease of cleaning and the reduction of dirt collection areas. Stainless Steel Spats are also available.
Pioneer’s Nail on Frames are primarily designed for installation after the erection of the finished wall. The unique no return design is ideal for adhesive backed wood trims where specific design concepts are required. The slotted screw design is ideal for proper location of finished stud walls.
